Training, direction, and support have been furnished by OPC, the ARC, the Chatham County Fire Marshall, the Food Bank of Central NC, and several “for-contract” organizations and include a broad list of subjects including:

NCIA                                                                Cultural Competency

Medication Administration                             Corporate Compliance

Clients’ Rights                                                 Fire & Emergency Safety

Workplace Violence Prevention                     CPR/First Aid/AED

Bloodborne Pathogens                                    Fire Extinguisher

Confidentiality Requirements                         General Office Safety

Person & Family Centered Services               Food Bank Orientation

Professional/Personal Conduct Expectations

Another avenue for training that allows for internal control and scheduling is the company’s move towards “training a trainer” internally.  The QDDP is trained to teach NCIA and our Administrative Assistant is trained to teach CPR/First Aid.  The next goal is to bring Bloodborne Pathogens inside as well.  CCGH is 30 years old with several long-time employees and the overall service average is six years (turnover is less than 15%).  This service longevity serves in its own right to afford each staff member a continuing training experience, maturity, and job sophistication.

Coupling this on-the-job experience with annual training exercises has proven to be an excellent way to maintain and continually improve client care.
